We’re Disney Bound in Disneybound: Aristocats Edition

If you’ve visited our blog in the past couple of months, you’ve likely seen some of our Disneybound posts. During our trip to Florida back in February, we visited both Disneyworld and the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, and of course, we dressed in theme each day! Specifically, we were Disneybounding.

If you still don’t know what Disneybounding is, I’ve copied and pasted Kris’s definition below to help you out.

What is Disneybound?” you ask. Well reader, Disneybound is a popular trend started by blogger Leslie Kay. It’s well known that, while children could dress up as any character they chose, adults are not allowed to enter Disney theme parks in costume. It’s understandable. What if you’re a cosplay master & your costume is so good that visitors mistake you for a Disney Cast Member (aka employee)? And then you do something rude, inappropriate or uncouth? That would reflect poorly on the park…and Disney is all about their image! Kay found a fun way to follow the rules but still get in the Disney spirit; she created outfits made from everyday clothes but were inspired by Disney characters. Instead of making Cinderella’s dress you just pull something pretty & blue out of your closet & go! It allows you to channel the spirit of your favourite princess/hero/villain/sidekick/etc while still dressed in something that is comfortable, flattering & in your style. It’s basically closet cosplay but Disney-fied!

Today is the final of our Disneybound posts. All that’s left is our adventures as The Aristocat kittens: Berlioz, Marie and Toulouse. Being kittens was the perfect way to spend a day with the animals of Animal Kingdom.

These costumes were one of the first we thought of. The three of us have very different hair colour, which fits perfectly with these kittens. Kris bought us all cat ears months ago, way before this trip became a reality. What’s still needed is a way to work wearing the cat ears into our every day life.

Justine as Berlioz

Berlioz was a great choice for me, though it did take me forever to remember this kitten’s name! I chose to invert Berlioz’s colours and use red as the base colour of this outfit instead of black. I have a lot of red in my wardrobe so this was easy to do. I used my collared red dress that I bought cheaply from ebay last summer. I paired it will some black nylons, a light black sweater and my red toms. I added a little red bow to my black cat ears and put on some red lipstick to complete the cat look.Aristocats Berlioz Disneybound

KG as Marie

With the blonde hair and an abundance of pink, KG was the perfect choice for Marie. KG pulled out one of her many white dresses for the look. She paired it with a pink cardigan and pink nylons. Her cat ears were silver with some bedazzling on them (Fun Fact: they’re the same as the ones Taylor Swift wears in her ’22’ music video). KG added a pink bow to her hair and put on some cat accessories to make her feel more in character.

One of the best moments was when KG the kitten took a turn stalking the birds on one of the nature trails. Meow!

Aristocats Marie DisneyboundKris as Toulouse

And finally, Kris was an adorable Toulouse. All of the orange was a little bright with her red hair, but it worked perfectly. Kris’s orange dress was great! Perfect for the part and one of very few pieces of colour in her closet. She got Toulouse’s blue highlights from a navy cardigan and a blue bow pinned into her braid. Things were simple on the bottom with black nylons and black shoes. Aristocats Toulouse DisneyboundWe had a great day as The Aristocats! It was filled with many terrified screams, Burrito songs, walking from Africa to Asia (and back) A LOT, and waking up like P.Diddy. Writing these posts makes me want to go back 🙂

Have you ever done a Disneybound? Tell us about it in the comments! If you haven’t, you should definitely give it a try! It’s a ton of fun and a great way to embrace your Disney side, whether you’re at a Disney theme park or simply in your every day life!
